LiveScanner® vs. the field

Manual aim or automated scanning — compared against gear that does the same job

Motorized scanning mounts split into two real categories: manual mounts you steer yourself, and automated mounts that add scan modes and lock-on features. We’ve split this comparison the same way, so you’re only ever looking at products built to do the same thing.

Category 1 of 2

Manual control mounts

You steer the transducer yourself with a foot pedal or remote — no automated sweep or lock-on modes. These are the most affordable way to get hands-free, independent transducer control.

About this comparison. Every figure above is drawn from each manufacturer’s own published pricing, product pages, or press materials as of September 2026, and reflects the base or standard configuration of each product. Manufacturers update pricing and specs regularly — always confirm current details on the manufacturer’s site before purchasing.
  1. Garmin Spy Pole pricing reflects the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 42″ and 49″ bundles; street pricing may vary by retailer.
  2. Humminbird MEGA Live TargetLock is listed at manufacturer MSRP; it is commonly discounted by retailers.
  3. Rows marked “Not confirmed” or “Not published” reflect gaps in publicly available manufacturer documentation at the time of writing, not a confirmed absence of the feature — we’ll update this chart as better information becomes available.
  4. QuadScan and TrackCast share identical base hardware. QuadScan units built in roughly the last year ship “TrackCast-ready,” bonded at the factory to a unique serial number so the TrackCast remote can be added and self-paired later without returning the unit. QuadScan units older than that were built before this pairing system existed and require a factory retrofit to add TrackCast capability. Customers can contact us with their purchase date to check which category their unit falls into.
  5. All LiveScanner units use the same mount form factor and are compatible with the full motor list shown, including Garmin Kraken and Power-Pole ZR.
  6. Cornfield Live Sweep pricing varies by trolling motor model and shaft length selected; the Terrova-specific version is a separate product not reflected in the base price shown.
